Where Kate and Jess were
Kate has been training dogs for seven years and holds a Level 4 Diploma in Advanced Canine Behaviour. With Jess, she runs classes, one-to-ones and dog sport, and has a good name locally. Their old website was built on WordPress. It was slow, it wasn’t reliable, and it wasn’t being found on Google.
The business had grown, and so had the list of courses. Everything was there, but someone with a new puppy had to read a lot to find their class, and every “Book now” button led to the same general form.
Not just a redesign
A new look on the same structure wouldn’t have fixed it. So we started with the content: what they offer, who each course is for, and what makes them worth choosing. Everything they offer now sits in one of three clear lanes.
-
Classes
Puppy, puppy plus and adolescent classes, in the order a dog goes through them, with the monthly plan for carrying on afterwards.
-
One-to-one
Training, behaviour and sports sessions, for when a group isn’t the right fit.
-
Sports
UK Dog Sport, scent workshops and gundog training: the part of the business Kate set it up to promote.
What makes them different was in their own words all along, so we brought it to the front: all their training is reward-based, it runs from first puppy class to dog sport, and it’s led by an experienced, qualified trainer.
A clear path to booking
- Each lane has its own page, with every course laid out the same way: who it’s for, how long it runs and the format, then the details.
- Each lane has its own enquiry form, asking only what Kate needs for that kind of training, so she knows what someone wants before she replies.
- No payment on the site, just as they work: the form says plainly that payment is arranged once you’ve met.
- The monthly class plan has its own place, so people can see how to keep training after their first course.
Their name, kept
A trainer’s reputation is built over years, so the new site keeps what people already know. Their logo, their words (tidied, not rewritten), and every old page address, so Google results and links people have shared still work.
We showed Kate a few colour schemes on the working site, alongside the colours she already had. She kept her own, which says a lot about the brand she’s built.
All taken care of
Kate and Jess run a busy training business, and a website project shouldn’t become a second job. We worked from what was already there, and did the restructure, the words, the design and the build. Kate and Jess answered a few questions, sent some photos and picked the colours they liked.
Now it’s theirs to keep up to date. They have their own admin page for their details, courses, photos and the team, plus plain-English figures showing whether the website is bringing in enquiries. It’s quick on a phone and tells Google exactly what they do and where.
