Suffolk Design — strategic thinking and design for ambitious local businesses.

About

I'm Ben. I've spent twenty-odd years helping businesses get the strategy and the experience right, not just the build — the thinking that decides what a site or campaign should actually do, not just what it should look like.

Before Suffolk Design, that meant working with names like Elemis, Smart Pension, and the Cabinet Office — helping much bigger organisations make better decisions about their products and digital services. I also run principles.design, an open resource used by design teams across the industry.

Why Suffolk Design exists

Most local businesses looking for a website end up talking straight to the people who'll build it — a web designer, a developer, an agency. That's the right call once you already know what you need.

The harder part is working that out first: what the site actually has to do, for who, and why what you have now isn't doing it. Suffolk Design is that first conversation — the kind of strategic thinking that normally only larger organisations get, aimed at businesses closer to home, before you spend a penny on the build itself.
